Project - Development Methodology
Diamond's methodology continues to be very successful and is typically divided into the following phases:
- Functional Specification The first implementation phase is to determine solution aspects that are critical to project success. The result is a deliverable Functional Specification document which forms the basis of further operations.
- Design Design is the determination of how each element of the Functional Specification will be met. The result of design is a deliverable Detailed Design document which outlines explicit development directives and goals.
- Development Each development directive outlined in the Detailed Design must be carried out. A quality development plan will include validation that each requirement listed in the Functional Specification has been met.
- Deployment New systems must be installed, configured, and integrated with existing systems. A Performance Validation plan must be structured verify Functional Specifications have been met. Considerable emphasis must be placed on minimizing system downtime. A by product of deployment includes end-user documentation and training to ensure the project success.
